If your feet and legs have numbness and/or burning?

Welcome to my blog!

Pain and/or burning sensation to your feet is not normal, but unfortunately burning feet is a very common complaint that I encounter every day in my practice. Patients complain of their feet being on fire or their feet feeling like two pieces of wood which cause a lot of discomfort and ambulation problems. Other people state that this problem keeps them awake at night. This burning or numbness is usually found in people over 50 years of age but it can be found in the younger population as well. Burning feet could be done to a variety of problems. Diabetes is one disease that cause nerve damage (neuropathy) to your feet. Thus, one important thing that one person must do if experiencing burning in the feet is to get tested for diabetes. A lot of times I will have patients walking into my clinic complaining of burning or numbness to their feet and legs and the first thing I ask is "Are you a diabetic?" And if their answer is no or if they were not tested for diabetes than I recommend that they get tested.
